This month's feature product: Ecoart Earth Friendly Arts and Crafts for 3- to 9-Year Olds by Laurie Carlson. This book cleverly demonstrates how kids can create fabulous crafts while learning to respect nature and its fragile ecological balance. All projects use recyclable, reusable, or nature's own found art materials. The following images represent a 7-year-old's interpretation of two crafts available in the book.

Craft project #1: Twig Picture Frame (pg. 52)

1. A cardboard frame is cut out and
colored paper glued on. Materials are selected and planned out.
  2. Birch bark is torn into pieces and glued to frame front. Leaves and acorns are added.

3. Twigs are broken to specific lengths and glued to the outside edge of the frame.   4. A picture is glued to a cardboard piece and centered in the frame. Then a back support is added.
A BEAUTIFUL, NATURAL PICTURE FRAME FOR YOUR FAVORITE FRIEND!

Craft project #2: Desk Organizer (pg. 114)
1. 6 tin cans are collected, cleaned and lids removed. Each can is covered with construction paper. 2. Various types of decorations such as twigs, marker drawings and foam cutouts are glued to the cans.
3. The cans are glued together to form a pyramid. This child's design was inspired by the four seasons. 4. The cans are left to dry and then office supplies are placed in each compartment by type and size
