Product Description:
Harbor Seals are the focus of this story. They are in the scientific order known as Pinnipedia, which means wing-footed. Good swimmers and divers, they can close their nostrils and stay underwater for as long as 20 minutes. Seals feed in the sea but come ashore for many of their activities such as birthing and nursing their pups. A mother seal is quite protective of her young until the pup is weaned. To escape danger, a seal pup will climb on the mother's back and hold on with its flippers while she swims away! (Softcover) Printed in the USA
