Born
and raised in rural Minnesota, Cindy's Native American grandfather
taught her to
appreciate the many gifts our earth provides us. Today Cindy owns
and operates Aware Toys, Inc. a company dedicated to creating
toys for children that celebrate earth's gifts and it's inhabitants.
Her company's mission is to educate, elevate, and enlighten children
to be more accepting of people's differences and stimulate their
inherent love of nature. Ki, which means "earth spirit"
in Native American, is Cindy's first endeavor at creating a children's
toy that addresses her vision. The doll is constructed of six
components, from nature, which may be assembled to create a non-gender,
nonviolent, plush friend; or, the components may be detached and
explored individually. She plans on creating more products in
the future which will further her mission towards teaching a love
of nature and the global community all humans are a part of.
