Nina
Laden is the child of two artists who encouraged her to draw from
the moment she could hold a crayon. She grew up loving animals
and approaching life with a sense of humor. She received a Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University and spent her early,
professional years as a graphic designer and freelance illustrator.
She currently lives in the Seattle, Washington area where she
juggles writing, family and working on Hollywood projects.
Laden wrote her first children's book in 1989 for which she won
an award and much recognition. Since that time her books have
been placed on "best lists", translated in many languages
and continue to win awards. She is best known for her humorous
depiction of animals and draws most of her inspiration from things
that she reads. Her illustrative talent and ability to transform
classic works and concepts into engaging, fun and educational
literature makes her a significant contributor to the children's
book industry.
